Yoga Nidra can be literally translated as sleep yoga. This wonderful practice is based upon the teachings found in the ancient Tantra Shastras.

Many teachers use snippets of Yoga Nidra to help their students relax during Savasana (corpse pose), after their yogasana practice, but this does not come anywhere near the full effect of this practice, which is not only the ultimate relaxation technique, but also brings us into direct contact with the subconscious mind. This contact allows us to know ourselves more deeply and to have greater conscious influence over the state of our being and raise our levels of conscious awareness.
